1. First in Freedom - ABATE of DE to Contribute Over $8,000 to California Judicial Fund
From Gary Hilderbrand, State Legislative Coordinator – October 31, 2007:
ANNOUNCEMENT
ABATE of Delaware to Contribute over $8000.00 to ABATE of California Judicial
Fund
"ABATE of Delaware, and its three county Chapters (New Castle, Kent, and Sussex)
have raised $8,300 for the California Judicial Fund.
The final amount will be realized at the State Board meeting scheduled for
December and sent to our brothers and sisters in California via the Judicial
Fund.
As many of you know, ABATE and BOLT of California put out a nationwide alert
seeking funds to help in their effort to seek declaratory relief in a decision
that was recently made concerning their mandatory helmet law.
Because the law mandates that all helmets must meet the definition of FMVSS 218
the Court ruled that this was vague and unconstitutional.
The California Highway Patrol has disregarded the Court’s decision and continues
to issue tickets to individual motorcyclists they feel are in violation of the
law as they interpret it.
There has been legal action taken on behalf of the biking community seeking
declaratory relief and a statewide injunction against the California Highway
Patrol. The results of this case will have an impact nationwide, by setting a
precedent that can be used coast to coast.
With the above mentioned amount of money that ABATE of Delaware has collected,
it represents approximately $8.00 per member. A small price to pay for your
Freedom of Choice.
We are releasing this announcement as a challenge to all SMROs in every state in
the nation to match what our little State has done.
ABATE of Delaware is proud to represent the State that started this nation, and
first on board with the desperately needed funds to maintain our freedom.'
In Solidarity,
Gary K. (Hildy) Hilderbrand
State Legislative Coordinator
Delaware Freedom Riders is proud to be living in a State that recognizes the value of the fight in California and its importance to freedom everywhere.
On Bruce and Ray’s Biker Forum, “Red Barron” responds to this announcement by saying:
“As a
lifetime member of ABATE of California, original BOLT member and a named party
on the Quigley lawsuit against the CHP, you have my heartfelt thanks! ABATE of
Delaware is truly leading by example and is an inspiration to all Motorcycle
Rights Organzations. How do I join ABATE of Delaware?
Over the years I have spend thousands of dollars on the judicial efforts and
believe that those who contribute will enjoy a feeling of freedom that others
will never enjoy.”
Gary’s announcement on Bruce and Ray’s Forum, as well as all responses, can be found here. You will be proud to know that Delaware is in the forefront for freedom.

2. ABATE of Maryland to Hold Legislative Retreat
Delaware Freedom Riders will be attending ABATE of Maryland’s Legislative Retreat this Sunday, November 4th, in Galesville, MD. There will be presentations by Bruce Bereano (ABATE of Maryland Lobbyist), Jeff Hennie (MRF VP, Legislative Affairs), and “Doc” Ski of North Carolina (100% Biker with a PhD in Research Analysis).
On a personal note, Delaware Freedom Riders has had some contact with Doc Ski over the past year and is looking forward to meeting him in person. His presentation, “Passive Protection: A Failed Safety Paradigm” was made at the Meeting of the Minds in Cedar Rapids this year. Now, this is one smart dude. His presentation can be downloaded here:

All information about the retreat can be found on the ABATE of MD website.
Can't wait to meet you in person, Doc ! And thank you to ABATE of MD for being so gracious as to extend an open invitation to their retreat. We're all in this together.
3. NTSB to Meet on Federal “Most Wanted” Safety Regulations
The National
Transportation Safety Board will hold a public
Board meeting on Thursday, November 8, 2007, at 9:30 a.m.,
in its Board Room and Conference Center, 429 L'Enfant Plaza,
SW, Washington, DC. The Board will review its Most Wanted
List of safety improvements, a list that calls for action by
federal agencies on the most critical transportation safety
issues.
The Most Wanted List was developed in 1990 to focus
attention on safety improvements the Board believes will
have the greatest impact on transportation safety. Some of
the issues to be reviewed this year include: runway
incursions, flight crew resource management, positive train
control, medically unqualified commercial drivers, operator
fatigue, and collision prevention through advanced
automobile technology.
A live and archived webcast of the proceedings will be
available on the Board's website at www.ntsb.gov. Technical
support details are available on the website under "Board
Meetings." To report any problems, please call 703-993-3100
and ask for Webcast Technical Support.
Is it on NTSB’s agenda to cram a helmet law down our throats? Check it out.
4. Blogs of Note
It’s interesting how the internet allows you to come in contact with all sorts of people. There are two particular Freedom Fighters, both who happen to be in Florida, that you should check out.
The first is RC, author of Big Bend Bikers for Freedom. Now here is a man with Freedom running through his veins, and he doesn’t care who knows about it. Go to his site, read it, and even enter a comment if you want. Excerpt:
We’ve developed a friendship with RC over the past year, and we hope to host he and his wife at our place in Delaware over this Thanksgiving.
There comes a point when you realize that bullshit is bullshit, and RC has reached that point.
The second blog of note is “Sam I Am”, also in Florida. Don’t let the name “Sam” fool you … she’s all woman. Excerpt:
Check her out.
Remember that Senate Bill 46, is not dead. It is merely dormant until the Legislature fires back up in early January to do more mischief.
We’ll be ready.
Will you?
Yours in Freedom,
